our mission

Agyindawuru

Our mission is to connect communities through lived experiences, services, and giving. We prioritize doing this work in partnership “with us.”

We’ve adopted the Adinkra symbol Agyindawuru as our logo serving as visual representation embodying and honoring rich African history.

Agyindawuru Meaning: A symbol of faithfulness, alertness, and dutifulness. Designed to commemorate the faithfulness of one Agyin who was a dutiful servant and gong-beater to the Asantehene.

social impact statement

EPIC Givers™ embodies the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.” We are rooted in the notion that the entire community has the responsibility to contribute to the collective growth of its people. We’re committing a minimum of 10% of our revenue to purposeful giving that encourages positive impacts on global communities.

We care about what our money does in the world and bank responsibly with Amalgamated Bank.

chief impact officer

Afia Amobeaa-Sakyi (she/her)

Afia has worked with various nonprofits and associations advocating for issues from education policy to humanitarian relief. She sincerely cares about people’s wellness and for better outcomes for all humans. She believes a more equitable world is possible within our lifetime and lives by the philosophy that by undoing the systems, structures, and mindsets that perpetuate inequities, we can make space for liberation.

Afia is a proud Ghanaian-American who continues to explore the balance of holding multiple truths inspired by double-consciousness. Despite the fact that she has lived between Maryland and New York for decades, she calls the sunshine state home as she spent her primary formative years in California. She loves practicing and teaching yoga and specializes in offering pre-natal yoga to BIPOC communities. When she is not daydreaming of warm weather, she spends her time learning about life through fashion, food, friends, and travel.

Afia was often challenged by being “the only” in many of the activities she desired to participate in…the Black yogi, the young BILPOC nonprofit professional, the African diaspora enthusiast. However, as the years have gone by, more have joined her. EPIC Givers LLC was inspired by her passion projects in so many extraordinary ways. She believes with love and support we can all strive to be EPIC Givers.
